MENTAL HEALTH EXPERTS

Dr. Regina Miranda

Dr. Regina Miranda is a Professor of Psychology at Hunter College, City University of New York, and is a member of the Doctoral Program in Health Psychology and Clinical Science at The Graduate Center. She directs the Laboratory for the Study of Youth Cognition and Suicide, which focuses on understanding why young people think about and attempt suicide in a way that can inform assessment, treatment, and prevention of suicide risk. Dr. Miranda also co-founded the Youth Suicide Research Consortium, which seeks to increase diversity in youth suicide research. She is the daughter of Honduran immigrants and a first-generation college student.


Dr. Miranda received her B.A. in Psychology from Yale University in 1997, her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from New York University in 2004, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, before joining the Psychology Department at Hunter College in 2005.

Dr. Douglas Johnson

Dr. Douglas R. Johnson is Director of the Institute of Biblical Counseling M.A.I. He is dedicated to Meta-analysis in Neuroscience using biblical principles as a base. He is the founder of M.A.I. Counseling Center (MAICC), also known as Cambio Total, located in Miami, Florida where he teaches all people who go to his counseling under the concept of programs based on biblical truths.


Dr. Johnson is on the Board of Directors of Riverside Christian Ministries. What most characterizes Dr. Johnson is that his studies are carried out under principles found in the Bible, and he explains how these Biblical principles act in the brain to help it stabilize and function an an optimal level.

FAITH EXPERTS

Fr. Manuel Dorantes, STL, MBA

Father Manuel Dorantes serves as Pastor of Saint Mary of the Lake and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Chicago. He holds a Masters degree in Divinity and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from Mundelein Seminary and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In 2017 he was appointed Strategic Advisor to the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication which oversees all the Vatican’s communication properties. In 2022, he was appointed Strategic Advisor to the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Promotion of Human Development.

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Rios

Dr. Liz Rios is a Puerto Rican Afro-Latina, born in Brooklyn and raised on Lower East Side of NYC. She is a sought after speaker and writer with more than 35 years of experience in urban ministry, from faith-based nonprofit leadership to higher education administration, church planting, and pastoral leadership.  She is the Founder of Passion2Plant, a fully Egalitarian network that trains Black and Brown planters to start holistically-minded, justice-oriented churches right from the start. Liz earned an EdD from Nova Southeastern University (2007) and a DMin from Southeastern University (2019) and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Justice degree at Union Theological Seminary.

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Tamez Mendez

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Tamez Méndez, Ph.D. in Leadership, is the founder and Executive Director of NewGeneration3.org (NG3). NG3 works towards "Connecting People - Expanding Perspectives - Shaping the Future" through bilingual leadership training, research, practical resources, and consulting services. With over three decades of global ministry experience, Dr. Tamez advocates for youth’s holistic well-being and the advancement of education within the Latino community, for which she was honored with the Nuestra Herencia Award from Emory University/Candler School of Theology. She is a sought-after thought leader, published author, TEDx speaker, and serves as Director of Education and Grant Programs for Leadership Education at Duke.


Rev. Carlos Malave

Rev. Carlos L. Malave is the president of the Latino Christian National Network (LCNN.) LCNN is a broad Christian Latino network in our country, including Pentecostal, Evangelical, and Mainline leaders. He also serves as pastor of the Appomattox Court House and New Concord Presbyterian churches in Virginia. Rev. Malave has served for many years on the steering committee of the Circle of Protection, a hunger advocacy group of more than 50 denominations and Christian organizations. He holds post-graduate degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary and Loma Linda University.
